What is God saying to us in His word about the time in which we live? He gives both warnings and promises about the end of the age. In the history of the world, in what time do you think we are living? God tells us about the end in Revelation and various other scriptures. Let us consider these days in the light of His word.

“Then He (Jesus) also said to the multitudes, “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it is. And when you see the south wind blow, you say, ‘There will be hot weather’; and there is. Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?” Luke 12:54-56

Have you looked into the rapture? It is God’s comfort to us in these times, as it has been a comfort to many before us, and is meant for us to encourage each other with the hope of His imminent return to rescue His bride. We are the church-age saints, not the old testament saints or the tribulation saints. We are living in the times immediately before the Great Tribulation described in the book of Revelation as a time of God’s wrath being poured out. As believers in Jesus Christ we will go through persecution and tribulation at the hand of man.

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.” Matthew 24:9

However, we are not called to the wrath of God (during the Great Tribulation), which is reserved for those not believing. Jesus has rescued us out of the sin and condemnation of those not believing. When Jesus died on the cross He took the wrath of God for our sins. Romans 3:23 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”. As sinners, Jesus’ death on the cross omits us from the wrath of God. If we are not omitted from God’s wrath, then what was all of Jesus’ work on the cross accomplishing? We are also called one spirit with God if we are joined to Him by believing in Jesus. Why would God pour out His wrath on us if we are one spirit with Him? We must believe that Jesus is God’s only Son, was born as a baby, lived on the earth as the God Man, is One with God the Father, and dying for our sins, He bore the weight of sin for all humanity on the cross. Then, He rose again to life on the third day, sealing the deal to defeat sin and death. This was God’s original and only plan making the way for us to be spared from His wrath so that we could be reconciled to Him in eternity. We are not subject to His wrath if we are joined to Him in Christ the Lord. If you are not joined to God by Christ, believe in Him today and be spared from the deserved wrath of God.

“And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power… But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him… Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:14, 17, 19-20

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1

Times on this earth will progressively bring hard times on believers, but God is sovereign and His plan will prevail overall. Since we, by scripture, can be confident that Christ will not allow His bride to get beat up by God’s wrath before bringing us to Himself as His long awaited treasure, we can bear to see and experience the unfolding evils of this life with steadfast assurance and confidence in our Lord Jesus Christ’s imminent return. We have nothing to fear.

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10

“Lift up your eyes to the heavens, And look on the earth beneath. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke, The earth will grow old like a garment, And those who dwell in it will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, And My righteousness will not be abolished. “Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, You people in whose heart is My law: Do not fear the reproach of men, Nor be afraid of their insults.” Isaiah 51:6-7

Biblical prophecy is unfolding daily with lawlessness, deception, Christian persecution and false teachers all around the world; and with the evidence of God giving people over to a depraved mind and hearts being hardened, I can’t help but take to heart 1 Corinthians 1:20, which reads, “Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?”

God’s word says, “And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you… And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” Matthew 24:4, 10-12

So what do we do while we wait? We occupy and we don’t become apathetic. We are told by Jesus to be vigilant and wise in preparation with oil for our lamps to burn as we wait to meet Him.

“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘ No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.” Matthew 25:1-13

Don’t wait until the time has come and gone. Stay close to Christ now by reading His word and praying always. Seek God and you will find His truths. Fill your heart and mind with scripture, meditating on His words day and night.

We are told there are crowns awaiting those who affectionately look for Him.

(Paul said) “For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8

How much more so will we look for Him as we learn of the affairs of this world? This world, which is not our home.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

“Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach. For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come. Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” Hebrews 13:12-16

Be encouraged! The closeness of the shout of Jesus and the trumpets sounding as He calls us to Himself in the rapture are near. I pray that regardless of the cold temperature of this dark world, that each of us finds peace and joy in the rejoicing of the knowledge of Christ and His near rescue of His bride. He is awaiting, much anticipating, the moment that only the Father knows. The moment when God the Father says to His Son, “Jesus, It is time! Go get your bride.”

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Mark 13:32

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

“And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17
